The editor who sees you, not just your words
400+ Manuscripts edited across genres 18+Years of editorial practice 4Core genres: fiction, memoir, non-fiction, childrens
Bobby George has spent nearly two decades doing something most editors never quite master: reading not just what is on the page, but what the author is trying—sometimes struggling—to say. Across more than 400 manuscripts, he has worked with first-time writers nervous about their debut, seasoned authors refining a career-defining book, professionals turning expertise into narrative, and storytellers who knew they had something to say but couldn’t yet find the shape of it.
His work naturally leans towards fiction and instinct—he is captivated by the structure of storytelling, by how a sentence can convey emotion subtly, and by the particular bravery required to write authentically. However, his editorial scope equally spans memoir, narrative non-fiction, self-help, and children’s literature: wherever a person strives to communicate something meaningful to them.
Beyond editing, Bobby writes and has been published himself, which means he brings to every manuscript not just a trained editorial eye, but the lived understanding of what it costs to put words on a page and offer them to the world. He has also taught writing and editing, which has sharpened his ability to articulate not just what needs to change, but why—and how.
The BluePencils is the studio he has built around a single conviction: that every manuscript, regardless of where it is in its journey, deserves the kind of care that transforms it—not into someone else’s book, but into the fullest, clearest, most powerful version of itself.
At theBluePencils, his guiding belief remains simple: Great editing is invisible, but its impact is unforgettable.
